Photos | ![]() | Hans Bergen Bakery & Stable 26 Fulton Street, at the S.W. corner of Elizabeth Place, showing the building in which Hans Bergen carried on a bakery from 1717 to about 1730, in conjunction with a store, and a stable for horses of the residents of the Island when crossing to New York. The stable was a stone building, located, as near as can be ascertained, on the westerly corner of Fulton and Elizabeth Streets. A portion of the walls of which are supposed to form the easterly end of the building located there. In 1840, it was N. Guerneys' Mechanic 's 1 Hotel. Eugene L. Armbruster Collection. |
